You've got a friend in me

**You've got a friend in me**

<<This first story for the Slice of Life is dedicated to my very dear friend who brought me to this blog and inspired me to write. Let's do this!>>

She came out of the HR office on the second floor. That was it. She had to find a new job, a new school, and move to a different country. A teacher with experience in Grade 5 was needed. A teacher ready to become the leader of the team. Someone else.

The next day she signed up for a big job fair in London. It was a good chance to visit her sister as well. She hasn't done this before -she had no idea of the mayhem that she would soon be in.

A big hotel, people from all around the world, and posters with job offers on the walls. Countries, continents, oceans, schools, names. Smile, hand in your CV, smile again, something like speed dating.

And there he was! The "someone else", the teacher with more experience, the teacher ready to become the leader of the team. He was there too. Her -soon-to-be ex-boss had the brilliant idea that since they are both in this big job fair, she could share some tips about the school and the city with him. And so she did.

She didn't end up leaving the city and she didn't change schools. She stayed in the city she loved and still loves. Because life is full of changes and surprises. She and he are now friends who teach at the same school. They have traveled together, laughed together, got lost together, and danced together.

                                                      ***                                       ***

Thank you my dear friend for all the memories we've made together! It turns out that that day in the lobby I was talking to someone very special, I just didn't know it yet!

  1. Aaaww, I'm touched. Thank god the girl who shined the sun didn't find another job. So glad you are writing. It's a masterpiece! And you manage to capture the craziness of all job fairs, and this particularly unlikely moment.
